Obituary:

Thelma J. Wilkerson, 72, of Orlando, departed this life on Sunday, March 24, 2024. Thelma, a lifelong resident of Orlando, was born on November 6, 1951 to Martha Thompson and Eugene Peterson. Thelma dedicated her life to healthcare, serving as a nursing manager for several years before retiring.

Thelma was a God fearing, caring, trustworthy, kind hearted woman with a heart of gold. She loved her family and enjoyed being with her friends. Even as her health declined, she remained an active member of Trinity AME Church, Orlando. Over the years, she served as a steward, Sunday School Superintendent, and the church secretary. She was a devoted wife, mother, sister and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Thelma is survived by her loving husband, Charlie Wilkerson; daughter, Robin Wilkerson; brother, Howard Dozier; sisters, Dorothy Thompson, Mildred Dozier; and a host of other relatives and many friends.

Visitation will be held on Friday, April 5, 2024 from 5-7PM at the church. A service of celebration will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2024, 1:00 PM at New Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church, 4201 West Columbia Street, Orlando with P.E. Milton Broomfield, officiating. Interment: Chapel Hill Cemetery, Orlando.

    I’m in total disbelief. Mrs. Thelma was my supervisor for some years and she will be missed. I’m so blessed to have crossed her path. To her husband and daughter, I send my heartfelt Condolences to you. You all are in my prayers.
