Effective date: October 18, 2026
Postell’s Mortuary (“Postell’s,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) respects the privacy of the families we serve and everyone who visits our website. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect through postellsmortuary.com (the “Site”), how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have.
This policy covers information collected through the Site only. Information you share with us in person or by phone while arranging services is kept confidential and handled as part of our professional relationship with your family, in keeping with Florida law governing funeral establishments.
Information We Collect
Information you give us
- Contact form. When you send us a message, we collect your name, email address, phone number (if provided), and anything you write in your message.
- Obituary comments and condolences. When you leave a comment on an obituary, we collect the name, email address, and optional website you enter, along with your comment. Your name, website, and comment are shown publicly. Your email address is never displayed.
- Obituary information. Obituaries, photographs, and service details published on the Site are provided to us by the families we serve, with their permission.
Information collected automatically
- Technical data. Like most websites, our web server and security software record your IP address, browser type, device type, pages visited, and the date and time of your visit. We use this to keep the Site secure and working properly.
- Cookies. The Site uses a small number of cookies. If you leave a comment, your browser may store a cookie that remembers your name and email address so you do not have to re-enter them; you can opt out of this using the checkbox on the comment form. Our security software also sets cookies to help block automated attacks. We do not use advertising cookies, and we do not sell or rent information about our visitors.
How We Use Your Information
- To respond to your messages and questions.
- To publish obituaries, service information, and condolence messages.
- To screen comments for spam and to protect the Site from fraud, abuse, and security threats.
- To maintain and improve the Site.
- To comply with our legal obligations.
We do not use your information to send marketing emails, and we do not sell your personal information.
Services We Use
We rely on a few trusted third-party services to operate the Site. Each of these services has its own privacy policy that governs how it handles information.
- Spam filtering (Akismet by Automattic). Comments and contact-form submissions may be checked by Akismet, which receives the submitted content along with your IP address and browser information to identify spam. Automattic Privacy Policy.
- Security (Wordfence). Our security software inspects traffic to the Site, including IP addresses, to block attacks. Wordfence Privacy Policy.
- Google Maps and Google Fonts. Our map and directions features and the typefaces on the Site are delivered by Google, which may receive your IP address when you load a page. Google Privacy Policy.
- Facebook and YouTube. Some obituaries include memorial videos, livestream recordings, or tribute graphics from Postell’s Mortuary’s Facebook Page or YouTube channel. When you view embedded content, Facebook (Meta) or YouTube (Google) may collect information about you according to their own policies. Meta Privacy Policy · Google Privacy Policy.
- Flower orders. Our “Send Flowers” links take you to a separate online flower store operated by a third party. Orders and payment information you enter there are handled by that store under its own terms and privacy policy, not by Postell’s Mortuary.
- Website hosting. The Site is hosted and maintained on our behalf by Dimensions Development Inc, which has access to Site data only as needed to operate and support it.
How We Use Facebook and YouTube Data
To make memorial videos and tribute graphics easy for families to find, the Site connects to Postell’s Mortuary’s own Facebook Page and YouTube channel. This connection is used only by authorized Postell’s staff; visitors to the Site are never asked to sign in with Facebook or Google.
- Facebook. With read-only permission, the Site reads posts, photos, and videos published on Postell’s Mortuary’s Facebook Page so staff can match them to the correct obituary. Facebook recordings of services may be downloaded and archived so they remain available to families. The Site never posts to Facebook and does not access the personal profiles or private messages of any individual.
- YouTube. The Site reads information about videos on Postell’s Mortuary’s YouTube channel and, with staff approval, uploads service recordings to that channel so they can be embedded on the matching obituary.
- Google API Services. Postell’s Mortuary’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Data obtained through the YouTube API Services is used only to manage videos on Postell’s Mortuary’s own channel and display them on the Site. It is not sold, not used for advertising, and not shared with anyone except as needed to provide this feature or as required by law. YouTube’s own terms apply to YouTube content: YouTube Terms of Service.
- Security. Access tokens and API keys for these connections are stored encrypted on our server and are available only to authorized administrators. Backup copies of archived recordings are kept in secure, access-controlled cloud storage.
Postell’s Mortuary can revoke the Site’s access at any time, through Facebook’s Business Integrations settings or Google Account permissions. When we disconnect, the stored access tokens are deleted from the Site.
How Long We Keep Information
Contact-form messages are kept only as long as needed to respond to you and keep reasonable business records. Obituaries and approved condolence comments stay published as a lasting memorial unless the family asks us to change or remove them. Server and security logs are kept for a limited time and then deleted automatically.
Your Choices and Data Deletion Requests
You may ask us to:
- see the personal information we hold about you,
- correct information that is wrong, or
- delete a comment you posted or other information about you.
Families may also ask us to update, correct, or remove an obituary, photograph, or video connected to their loved one, including any content that came from Facebook or YouTube. To make a request, call us at (407) 295-3857, use our contact form, or write to the address below. We may need to verify your identity before we act, and we will respond within a reasonable time, usually within 30 days.
Children’s Privacy
The Site is meant for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you think a child has given us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
Security
We use reasonable safeguards to protect information collected through the Site, including security monitoring, restricted administrator access, and encrypted storage of sensitive credentials. No website or internet transmission is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Links to Other Websites
The Site links to websites we do not control, such as grief-support resources, government agencies, our flower store, and social media. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those websites, and we encourage you to read their policies.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will post the revised policy on this page and change the effective date at the top.
