Obituary:

Lawrence Cleave Tomlinson, 93, of Orlando, departed this life on Sunday, October 22, 2023. Tom, as he was affectionately called, was born on January 16, 1930 in Jones, GA to the late Carrie B. and Lott Tomlinson Sr.

After completing his formal education, Tom enlisted in the US Army and served honorably until 1953. Upon reentering the workforce, he was employed as a security guard with Martin Marietta for 34 years. In his spare time, Tom enjoyed watching football and riding his motorcycle. Tom and his beloved wife Val were faithful members of St. John Baptist Church, Orlando, where he served on the usher board. He was a devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

He leaves his loving memories to be cherished by his devoted wife of over 60 years, Valcenia Tomlinson; 9 children, Arthur Lee (Helen) Tomlinson, Lance (Angela Griffin) Chambers, Bruce (Christine Eve) Chambers, Victor Chambers, Pat (Kevin) Beckton, Lyn (John) Ellis, Dee Dee (Henry) Collins, Angela Tomlinson, Theresa Tomlinson; 20 grandchildren; 5 siblings, Lott (Shirley) Tomlinson Jr., Lottie Byrd, Carrie Core, Roy Tomlinson, Joe (Mary) Tomlinson; and a host of other relatives and many friends.

Visitation will be held on Friday, November 3, 2023 from 4-6PM at the church. A service of celebration will be held on Saturday, November 4, 2023, 10:00AM at St. John Baptist Church, 30 Fred L. Maxwell Boulevard, Orlando with Pastor Rolous A. Frazier, Jr., officiating.

    I’ve been knowing Mr Tomlinson and family since the 10th grade. Always made me feel part of the family he always called me his second daughter. And it was an honor to know him and I will miss him terribly
