Obituary:
Herby A. Salkey, 91, of Winter Garden, FL departed this life on Sunday, June 21, 2026. Herby was born on August 15, 1934 in Trelawny, Jamaica WI. He immigrated to the United States and worked as an auto mechanic for several years until retirement.
Herby was a man of great wisdom. He dedicated his life to serving his family and church. He instilled love, wisdom, and Christian values for all of his family to follow. He was an active member of Winter Garden SDA Church until his health began to decline. Herby was and will continue to be an inspiration to us all for living life in an exemplary way. He was a devoted father, brother, grandfather and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Herby is survived by his 6 children, Rose Brown, Eve Salkey, Dadria Payne, Dwight (Patricia) Salkey, Paul (Kimberly) Salkey, Andrew (Anngel) Salkey; 2 siblings, Allan Salkey, Lola Foster; 22 grandchildren; and a host of other loving family and numerous friends.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 8, 2026 from 4-6PM at the mortuary. A service of celebration will be held on Thursday, July 9, 2026, 10:00 AM at Winter Garden Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 1146 E. Plant Street, with Pastor Chelston D. Lee, officiating. Interment: Orlando Memorial Gardens, Apopka.
