Obituary:

Edgar Gladstone “Lolly” Grant, Sr., 86, departed this life on Sunday, October 4, 2020. Edgar was born on September 27, 1934 in the District of Mile End, the Parish of St. Ann, Jamaica West Indies to the late Eustace and Madge Grant. He was the first born of ten children. Lolly graduated from Newstead Primary School and later moved to Kingston where he worked in many different fields. He was an entrepreneur at heart, always putting his ideas on paper and doing the math for success. He then owned and operated a trucking business but later found his niche working in the hotel and hospitality industry, spending many years of his life bartending and managing hotels such as the Sheraton Hotel, the Playboy Club, the Ruins Club and Restaurant, and other restaurants and night clubs around Jamaica.

Lolly was a kind and loving person who was loved by everyone. He was always known to be a very charming and charismatic person to everyone he came in contact with. He had a special love for children and loved to feed them. Being the oldest child of ten, he was like a father to his siblings; ensuring they were well cared for. He was a fun-loving person who is always making up and giving jokes to make people laugh. He always wanted everyone to be happy. Lolly enjoy cooking and baking and ensured that no one around him would be hungry. He was also nicknamed ‘old police’ because of how he would try to settle any disputes among people and acted as a peace maker.

In 1973, Lolly migrated to the United States and resided in New York where he worked in the hotel and hospitality industry, the field he dearly loved and enjoyed. He moved to Florida in 1991 where he met his wife Patricia, and they raised two sons and Patricia’s five children. They both became business owners in the restaurant business and later retired from working.

He leaves to cherish his memories to his loving wife Patricia, his children, Godfrey Grant, Richard Grant, Jennifer Grant, Megan Grant, Sophia Grant, Davian Morrison, Geisha Morrison, Gawain Morris, Barbara Harris, Tina Nugent, Abraham Grant; siblings, Winston Grant, John F. Grant, Cutie Allen, Joan Lloyd, Veva Dennis, Shirley Grant, and Alma Tomblinson; and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, in-laws and friends.
