Obituary:
Cornelius Brown, Sr., 79 of Orlando, departed this life on Wednesday, June 17, 2026. Cornelius, affectionately known as Captain, was born on May 23, 1947 in Edison, GA to the late Emogene and Abraham Brown Sr. Professionally, he worked in masonry for several years.
He was a former member of Greater St. Paul AME Church, Orlando. After completing his formal education, he enlisted in the US Marines, and served proudly until he was discharged in 1969. In his spare time, he enjoyed going fishing, playing golf and listening to music. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his loving wife, Carrie Brown; 2 children, Calandria Brown, Cornelius “Neil Brown Jr” (Catrina) Brown Jr.; 8 siblings, Ethel Ottey, Cindy (O’Neil) Riley, Charles (Pamela) Brown, Rudolph Brown, Eugene Brown, Jimmey (Doreatha) Brown, Gayla Brown, Aaron Brown; 3 grandsons; and a host of other relatives and many friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, June 26, 2026 from 4-6PM at the mortuary. A service of celebration will be held on Saturday, June 27, 2026, 1:00 PM at Greater St. Paul African Methodist Episcopal Church, 1040 S. Parramore Avenue, Orlando with Rev. Donna Andrews, officiating. Interment: Cape Canaveral National Cemetery, Mims, FL.
