Obituary:

Verdie Mae Bryant Collins, 80, of Mims, departed this life on Wednesday, February 14, 2024. Verdie Mae, affectionately called Tump, was born to the late Rev. P J and Mother Alberta Bryant in Live Oak, FL on October 17, 1943. She met Mr. George Collins in Sandcut, FL and they later married in Pennsylvania. To this union, 5 children born. Verdie and George did divorce, but remained close friends until his earthly demise. She later met and married Mr. William Hinnant.

Throughout her life, Verdie worked in the family business as a cook. Her hobbies included fishing, interior decorating, and going to garage sales. She thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her family, friends and beloved grandchildren. To many, she was their “Favorite Auntie”. She was a devoted mother, sister, grandmother and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Verdie Mae is survived by her 4 loving children, Iris (Sylvester) Jones, Roy Lee (Evelyn) Collins, Larry (Laura) Collins Sr., Latasha (Leroy) Ellis; 4 siblings, Ham Bryant, Clara Bell, Myrtle King, Luke Bryant; 23 grandchildren; 64 great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held on Friday, March 1, 2024 from 5-7PM at Full Gospel Revival Center, 4532 Raleigh Street, Orlando. A service of celebration will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2024, 11:00AM at Solid Rock United Methodist Church, 440 S. Kirkman Road, Orlando with Mr. David Allen, officiating. Interment: Washington Park Cemetery, Orlando.
