Obituary:

Minister Joyce Lee McNair-Butts, 77, of Maitland, transitioned from labor to reward on Thursday, June 17, 2021. Minister Joyce was born on October 23, 1943 in Kinston, NC to the late Sarah and Lester McNair, Sr. Professionally, Joyce was employed as an educator in OCPS. She was also a social worker, Drug abuse and Rehab Counselor, and a delivery information clerk for the US Postal Services.

Joyce Butts joined Mount Carmel Missionary Baptist Church (now known as The Life Center Church), May 19, 1985. During her time in ministry, she has served as the Women’s Ministry Leader, as a Sunday School Teacher, in the Youth Ministry, and was active in the Senior’s Ministry. Joyce was licensed as a minister on January 25, 1998 and served faithfully until her illness. Joyce loved the Lord, her life, her family, and the church. She showed her love through her service and would also participate in other activities and services held or sponsored by The Life Center Church. She was a faithful and willing servant who instilled love, wisdom and Christian values for her family to follow. She was a devoted mother, sister, grandmother, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Minister Joyce is survived by her devoted daughter, Kimmy A. Anderson; brothers, Lloyd (Brenda) McNair, Zonnie McNair, Lester McNair Jr., Toney McNair; sisters, Carolyn Hannah, Tina McNair, Mildred (Greg) Brown; 1 grandson; and a host of other relatives, church family, and many friends.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 24, 2021 from 4-6PM a the mortuary. A service of celebration will be held on Friday, June 25, 2021, 11AM at Postell’s Mortuary Chapel, Orlando with Elder Michael Dawson Sr. officiating.

    I had the pleasure of seeing Joyce when she was in Kinston with Tina. She remembered my family and we laughed and talked . To the family, my condolences to you.
