Obituary:

Martina L. “MARTY” Leakes, 40, a lifelong resident of Orlando, departed this life on Sunday, April 27, 2025. Martina was born on December 24, 1984 to Daphane Johnson and Kenny Dent.

Martina was educated in Orange County Public schools and graduated from Oak Ridge High School. She worked in the fast food industry prior to her demise. She had a fun-spirited soul whose smile was stunning that it would light-up any room. What gave her the most joy in life was raising her children and grandchildren, whom she loved with all her heart. Martina was a beautiful, giving and kind individual that made a lasting impact on many lives, and she will forever be missed.

She is survived by her 5 children, Quinahya Bennett, A’ariyah Bennett, Zariah Bennett, Amiyah Bennett, Antwanious Bennett, Honor Bennett; mother, Daphane D. Johnson; father, Kenny Dent; siblings, Dwight (Deja) Leakes, Willie (Felicia) Sims Jr., Lavertris Sims; 3 grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held on Friday, May 9, 2025 from 5-7PM at the church. A service of celebration will be held on Saturday, May 10, 2025, 1:00 P.M. at New St. Mark Independent Free Methodist Church, 1001 Grand Street, Orlando with Pastor Pamela Bell-Wilcox, officiating. Interment: Washington Park Cemetery, Orlando.

  2. Miss Martian it’s so hard knowing that you are not on this earth no more we was kids when we meet i still remember the first day we grow up together u will truly be loved and missed tell my big sister and my mom that I love them and thankful for them in my life

My truly sincere and condolences to you dear, I had just seen you about 3 weeks ago at the store laughing and reminiscing while you was holding up the lottery line, who would’ve ever thought that would be my last time seeing you and talking about your dad, I will always remember you , with the smile you keep on your face, rest in heaven Martina ❤️‍🩹
