Obituary:

Eugene Peterson Jr., 65, of Winter Garden, departed this life on Saturday, April 4, 2026. Eugene, affectionately called “Slave Driver” by family and friends, was born on January 9, 1961 in Orlando, Florida to Josephine and Eugene Peterson Sr. He was a man that would give his all to help anyone. Eugene was employed as an air condition technician.

He provided and protected his family with all his might. Anyone who knew him knows he loved the Pittsburgh Steelers. He was a loving and caring man that was determined to enjoy life. He was a devoted father, son, brother, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

He leaves to mourn his passing: beloved mother, Reverend Josephine Peterson; 6 children, Candice (Willie) Harris, Lauren Peterson, Deandre Peterson, Eugene Peterson III, Taurus Peterson, Nathan Peterson; raised as a daughter, Shalonda Sloan; siblings, Patricia Peterson, Jacqueline Bogan, William Peterson; 5 grandchildren; a host of other relatives, and sorrowing friends.

Visitation will be held on Friday, April 17, 2026 from 4-6PM at the church. A service of celebration will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2026, 1:00 PM at New Inspiration Missionary Baptist Church, 617 S. Lakeview Avenue, Winter Garden with Pastor Dexter Johnson, officiating. Interment: First John Memorial Gardens, Apopka.
