Obituary:
Dimitra Grant Bowman, 69, of Orlando, departed this life on Sunday, August 23, 2026. Dimitra was born on November 19, 1956 in Fort Benning, GA to the late Eugenie and Harry Grant.
Professionally, she worked as a Manager with Frito Lay for over 30 years until retirement.
Dimitra was a very kind, generous, loving woman with a heart of gold. She dedicated her life to her raising and caring for her beloved family. In her spare time she enjoyed reading, baking and spending time with her grandchildren. Above all else, she was a woman of faith. She instilled love, wisdom, and Christian values for her children and family to follow. She was a devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Her memory and legacy will live on in the hearts of her beloved husband, Arthur Bowman; children, Mahalia (Mario) Roberts, Arthur G. Bowman, Joshua J.V. Bowman; raised as a son, Bernard (Shannon) Cooks Jr; 3 siblings, Jimmy Grant, Ronald (Judi) Grant, Napoleon (Sheryl) Matthews; 3 grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and numerous friends. Earth has no sorrow that heaven cannot heal.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 2, 2026 from 4-6 PM at the mortuary. A service of celebration will be held on Thursday, September 3, 2026, 12:00 Noon at Majestic Life Church, 821 S. Kirkman Road, Orlando. Interment: Orlando Memorial Gardens, Apopka.

I love to say it was a pleasure to meet a wonderful woman, dimetra was loved by everyone knowing her for over 30 years she was my friend, my sister, and mentor and I can call and talk to her about anything, l took her under my wings when she first came to fritolay no kids very smart and intelligent meatball l will miss you dearly my heart is heavy right now because I have lost a sister but I know God said he needs you more you have did your job here ❤️ l love you and your beautiful family

This is really very difficult and my heart is broken. Dimitra was such a beautiful soul working at Frito Lays she was very kind a respectful manager ,I learned a lot from her and I am going to miss her terribly. Talking and learning from her about Civil Rights,Dr.King and her own experience during that period was inspirational. May her gentle soul rest in peace and also may her memories be a blessing to her family and loved ones.

Dimetra, such a kind, happy, fun room mate at St. Andrews University. She was a bridesmaid in my wedding. She could light up a dark room with her beautiful infectious smile. Going to truly miss seeing her.
Dimitra, Arthur and I were BSU (Black Student Union) members and graduates of St. Andrews Presbyterian College (SAPC) later named St. Andrews University (SAU).
They will, forevermore, be the beautiful couple that walked hand in hand around our campus knowing that each had found their forever person! Together, as a spirited cheerleader and awesome basketball phenom, they showed each of us what true love and admiration was meant to be! And they’ve shown it everyday for the last five decades!
Dimitra, thank you for your lessons about life, love and commitment!

Dimitra will always be remembered as a fun and loving person. Dimitra came to St. Andrew’s with bells on her feet, ready and eager to help shape the climate of the college. Pharonda, Olga, Ann, and I had established the cheerleading squad and when Dimitra and Faith came aboard, they took it to another level! I will always remember the good times that we shared in our travels together.
Arthur, I remember that one of the main reasons for her to be on the squad was to be YOUR biggest cheerleader and fan! We all witnessed the love that you had for each other. Please accept my deepest sympathy and the love that I have for our mutual experiences and friendship.
Praying that you be comforted in the coming days as you adjust life on this side without your wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend.

My condolences to Arthur and the Bowman family. It broke my heart to hear of the passing of Dimitria. I met her when I married Arthur cousin, James in Wadesboro, N. C. She had such a calm and sweet spirit. She will be truly missed. RIP, Dimitria.
My heart is very heavy . Dimitri you will be miss from our presence but never from my heart you have been there for me at Frito-Lay and outside of Frito-Lay your memories will last a life time you’re such a loving mom, wife,friend, grandmother, mentor. Words cannot express the hurt of losing my childhood friend. Although we didn’t see each other a lot, we always communicated by calls and texts—receiving my last text the Thursday before The Lord called her home. I will forever kept her memory in my heart. May God continue to bless and keep this family through this difficult time. We loved her but God loved her best.

I have known Dimitra for 30+ years, as a coworker, a sister in the Lord and a friend. My wife and I love her dearly and enjoyed many years of fellowship. Dimitra was a person of unshakable integrity. She was that friend that you could count on to always have your best interest at heart. She had confidence for you when you had none left for yourself. She was that friend that would be loyal when no one else would be. Scripture calls her that friend that sticks closer than a brother. This family Matriarch was dedicated to doing what was right in the eyes of God and man. She was in love with the Lord and trusted Him to the very end. We spoke a couple of days before her procedure and she demonstrated this trust by letting me know that she had no fear of the outcome. She was calm and full of peace. It was devastating to here that The Lord took her home but He always does what’s best for His children. I know that my sister will be enjoying her well deserved crowns. Well done good and faithful servant.
Prayers and sympathies for the family. Met Dimitra in April of 1979. We only worked together for over a year yet she left a great impression. Met her and she quickly befriend and provided advice as I joined the team. Kind, caring, a great leader for her people at Frito-Lay. A special person!! Kept in touch over the years. May our Lord be with her!

I worked with Dimitra at the Orlando site from ’94 to ’97. I had been at the site only a few weeks when she came to see me. She said, “I know you are going to want to make changes—all new leaders do.” But then she offered me some advice that stayed with me throughout my time there.
She said, whenever we discussed the need to make significant changes to staffing, operational practices, or policies and procedures, I should always be able to explain how and why the approach we were taking was as fair as possible to everyone impacted.
“If you will do that, then we will have your back.”
That was Dimitra. She was all in on doing what was right for the customer, the business, and the employees. She spent countless hours coaching peers and team members, helping them understand what they could do to grow and build a future with the company.
When I was preparing to return to Dallas, she told me, “You are Orlando family now. Look out for us, advocate for us, and talk straight to us.”
Those words said a lot about who Dimitra was—and what she expected from those she trusted.
We last texted after the Orlando site had closed. We were both already retired, but Dimitra wanted me to know that she had stayed in touch with many of the longtime employees. She told me they felt the separation packages had been fair, even generous.
She was still looking out for the Orlando team.
Rest in peace, Dimitra. Job well done.
