Obituary:

Carolyn V. Birch, 90, of Orlando, departed this life on Tuesday, April 9, 2024. Carolyn was born April 10, 1933 in Pineview, Georgia. She was the daughter of the late Willie B. Cutler and the late Alberta Kendrick. She was happily married for sixty-nine years to the late James E. Birch Sr. (Jimmy) and, from this union was blessed with three sons: Reginald, Jerry and Glynn; and three daughters: Judith, Jennifer and Regina.

Carolyn was a career military wife, serving with her husband in the U.S. Army, and retiring after twenty (20) years. During those years she and her family were stationed in various military posts and bases both in the southern United States and Europe.

“Mom”, or “Gramma”, as she was lovingly called by her family, loved life and made the most of it by traveling. She was able to enjoy such exotic destinations as the Caribbean, Hawaii and numerous European destinations while stationed in Germany. In addition, she traveled the United States for vacations and various family functions, which included destinations to Los Angeles, California, Omaha, Nebraska, most of the east coast, New Orleans and Las Vegas just to name a few. Hobbies she enjoyed were ceramics, sewing, reading and doing word puzzles. Most of all she enjoyed family, especially cooking and baking for them. Her baking specialties included chocolate, pineapple, coconut and fruit cakes, sweet potato and pumpkin pies, and peach cobbler.

What is not remised was Mom’s and Dad’s love for one another. That love was one of a kind and the envy of all that new them. Whenever you walked into their Orlando home you would always find fresh flowers on the coffee table, a constant display of Dad’s love for her. Carolyn was a believer, a woman of faith, accepting the Lord Jesus Christ as her savior. She was a member of the Pine Hills Community Church of Orlando, and before that, a member of Antioch Freewill Baptist Church of Deland Florida.

Carolyn leaves behind sons: Jerry Birch Sr. (San) of Orlando and Glynn Birch of Mt Dora; Daughters: Jennifer Richardson (Richard) of Clermont, and Regina Birch of Orlando; Nephews raised as sons: Charles Cutler (Nettie) of Atlanta Ga., Arthur Cutler (Inez) of Augusta Ga.; Sisters: Betsy Joiner of Atlanta, Ga., Betty Beasley of St Paul N.C., Diane Cutler of Pineview, GA. Brothers: Neil Cutler of Lyons, Ga., Larry Cutler of Vidalia, Ga. 6 Grandsons; 4 Granddaughters. She also leaves behind a host of great-grandchildren, one great-great granddaughter, nephews, nieces, cousins, loved ones and friends.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 18, 2024 from 4-6PM at the mortuary. A service of celebration will be held on Friday, April 19, 2024, 10:00 AM at Pine Hills Community Church, 1305 N. Pine Hills Road, Orlando with Elder June M. Huff, officiating. Interment: Florida National VA Cemetery, Bushnell.

Though I never formally met Ms Carolyn,
I know she must have been a wonderful, righteous woman to have brought forth and influenced the wonderful virtuous women she has been entrusted with..
Jennifer, Sheherra, Regina, Ebony, and Jhadenn, and countless others,
Everybody I know has always spoken very fondly of her.
To The Birch Family and those who loved her ,
The Dornell family holds you in our thoughts and prayers
May The Lord comfort you all during this time
