Obituary:

Austin “Alkatraz” Gomes, III, 48, of Orange City, departed this life on Monday, October 4, 2021. Austin was born on September 22, 1973 in St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands to Carol James and Austin Gomes, Jr. Austin was a professional DJ. He was very close to his wife, children, siblings and friends. Austin loved entertaining and dancing at gatherings. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. To all his DJ’s, near and far, one love!

He cared for and loved all of his family. “Alkatraz”, as he was affectionately known in the music industry, was a hard worker and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Kaylia Gomes; sons, Austin IV, Ale’Andro, Ashwin, Ajaia; mother, Carol James; brothers, LeRoi (LaChelle) Bonelli, Eugene James; sisters, Shanda James, Taisha Gomes; step brothers, Ohanio James, Glen James, Robert James, Kenneth James, Robelto James, Richard James, Elwood James; step sisters, Annette James, Darlene Hodge, Nicole James, Kataisch James; and a host of other relatives and many friends.

Visitation will be held on Friday, October 22, 2021 from 4-6PM at the mortuary. A service of celebration will be held on Saturday, October 23, 2021 at 1:00PM in Postell’s Mortuary Chapel, Orlando. Interment: Washington Park Cemetery, Orlando.
