Obituary:

Polly R. Sullen, 92, departed this life on Wednesday, September 2, 2026. She was born on July 12, 1934 in Hartford, AL to the late Elizabeth and A.J. Neal.

Polly was a dedicated and hardworking woman. She faithfully served as a hotel hospitality manager for several years.

Her faith in God was central to her life. Deaconess Sullen served as an active, dedicated, faithful member of Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, Orlando. For decades, she worked diligently with the youth, the Trustee board, sang in the choir, and served willingly wherever she was needed. She loved the Lord and demonstrated her faith through service.

Aside from her church activities, she was a die-hard fan of the Orlando Magic. She also enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking, and spending time with her grandchildren. As a pillar of her community, Polly was seen as more than a mother, she was a nurturer, a friend and a guiding light. Her strength, kindness, and unwavering generosity touched countless lives. If you needed her, she was there without hesitation, without judgement and always with love. She instilled in her children the values of family, community, and unconditional love, leaving a legacy that lives on in every life she touched. Deaconess Sullen was and will continue to be an inspiration to us all for living life in an exemplary way.

She leaves to cherish her precious memories: her 5 children; Cathy (Eddie) Porter, Cindy McBride, Jimmy Sullen, Leonard Sullen, Karen Summerset; sister, Sarah McClellan; 7 grandchildren; and a host of other relatives, church family and numerous friends.

Family will receive friends at the wake service to be held on Friday, September 11, 2026 from 5-7 PM at the church. A service of celebration will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2026, 11:00 AM at Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, 4724 Raleigh Street, Orlando with Pastor Patrick Thomas, officiating. Interment: Washington Park Cemetery, Orlando.
