Obituary:

Mother Sharon Elaine Collins, 69, of Orlando, entered her eternal rest on Wednesday, August 12, 2026. Mother Collins was born on January 29, 1957 in Oakland, California to the late Cora B. and Harrison Dyer Jr.

After graduating high school, Mother Collins continued her education and later earned an Bachelor’s Degree in Education. Mother Collins served her community as an educator, and taught for several years with Osceola Christian Preparatory School. Her career allowed her to impact countless students. Her devotion to the craft was driven by her enthusiasm for positively impacting students and working alongside other passionate educators.

Mother Collins was a very kind, generous, loving woman with a heart of gold. She dedicated her life to her raising and caring for her beloved family alongside her late husband, Pastor Gary C. Collins. She served with grace and love as the former first lady of Carter Tabernacle CME Church, Orlando. She participated faithfully in Bible study, as a church mother, and to put it mildly, when the church doors were open, she was present. In her later years, she became affiliated with The Experience Christian Center, Orlando. She instilled love, wisdom, and Christian values for all her family to follow. She was the glue of her family and a devoted mother, servant leader and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Mother Collins leaves no mourners for she lived a rich Christian life among loving and devoted family and friends. She is survived by her 3 children, Shalah (Jimmie) Holmes, Jamilah (Byron) Collins Bullock, Christopher Collins; 1 sister, Terri Dyer. She will live on in the hearts and minds of her family, other relatives, former students and colleagues, church family and many friends. May her soul rest in perfect peace.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2026 from 9:00 AM until services begin at 10:00 AM, St. Mark African Methodist Episcopal Church, 1968 Bruton Boulevard, Orlando with Bishop Derrick L. McRae, officiating. Interment: Woodlawn Memorial Park, Orlando.
