Obituary:
Gloria Jean Smith, 78, of Orlando, fell asleep and entered eternal rest on Sunday, May 31, 2026. She was born on August 14, 1947 in Havana, Florida to the late Mable Jackson and Robert Williams. Professionally, Gloria was employed for many years as an exchange store manager, stationed on various military bases.
Her faith in God was central to her life. Sis. Smith served in several roles as an active member New Bethel AME Church, where she worked diligently with the senior’s ministry and the Women’s Missionary Society. She loved the Lord and demonstrated her faith through service. Aside from her church activities, she loved to shop, cook, and watch her favorite soap operas.
Gloria Jean leaves no mourners for she lived a rich Christian life among loving and devoted family and friends. She is survived by her devoted husband, Johnnie B. Smith; 3 sons, Reginald Smith, Marcus (Theresa) Smith, Darell Smith II; 1 sister, Joyce Jackson; 6 grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. She will live on in the hearts and minds of her family, church family and numerous friends.
Gloria Jean will be remembered for her unwavering faith, her nurturing spirit, her strength as a wife and mother, her love for her church and family. Her legacy lives on through the many lives she touched.
Visitation will be held on Friday, June 12, 2026 from 4PM-6 PM at the mortuary. A service of celebration will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2026 at 11:00 AM, New Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church, 4201 Columbia Street, Orlando with Rev. James Watkins, officiating.
