Obituary:

Bernice F. Miller, 90, of Orlando departed this life on Thursday, July 9, 2020. Bernice was born October 31, 1929 to the late Robert and Elouise (Lee) Foreman in Florala, Alabama. Bernice graduated from Columbia High School (Florala) and received a scholarship to study History and play basketball but chose to stay home to care for her mother. Bernice was trained as a Laboratory Technician at Orange County Medical Clinic. She later found her calling as a Correctional Officer, retiring after over 28 years with Orange County Corrections.

Bernice accepted Christ as her personal Savior and became a faithful member of St. John Missionary Baptist Church for over 60 years. She loved teaching Sunday School, was a dedicated worker, was known as a mighty woman of prayer. She worked untiringly with many Fraternal organizations. Eastern Stars, Heroines of Jericho (Most Ancient Grand Matron for the State of Florida), Buds of Promise, and Daughters of Sphinx. She was very knowledgeable, highly respected, and well regarded. Bernice held many titles and positions.

Bernice left a legacy of love and cherished memories to the following survivors: Children: Clinton Blackmon (Linda) of Orlando FL, James Ray Miller (Shelia) of Grayson GA, Janice Miller Pasquerosa of Somersworth NH, Eleanor Miller of Ocoee FL, Linda Echols (Jimmy) of Apopka FL, Don Miller (Deidra) of Atlanta GA, William Miller (Valerie) of Orlando FL, and Mary Newton (Kenneth) of Mandeville LA; 17 Grandchildren; several great grandchildren, other relatives, wonderful neighbors and many special friends.

Visitation will be held on Friday, July 17, 2020 from 4-6PM at the mortuary. A service of Celebration will be held on Saturday, July 18, 2020, 11:00 AM at First Baptist Church of Orlando-Henry Chapel, 3000 S. John Young Parkway, Orlando with Pastor Rolous A. Frazier, Jr., Officiating. Interment: Washington Park Cemetery, Orlando, FL. The Heroines of Jericho will perform the last rites ceremony on Friday, July 17th at 7PM, Postell’s Mortuary Chapel.

Executive Order in response to the COVID-19 Pandemic… we will only allow 10 individuals in at a time to enter the funeral home. We must adhere to these guidelines so that we all can remain safe and secure during this crisis. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
