Obituary:
Joe Curtis Glover, Sr., 95, of Tavares, departed this life on Wednesday, June 10, 2026. Joe was born in Tavares, FL to Zola D. and Warren Glover Sr. on January 31, 1931. After completing his formal education, he joined the US Marines and served in Okinawa. He retired from the military after over 20 years of active service. Upon returning to civilian life, he was employed as a postal worker until retirement. He was known as the Tavares Historian, the oldest living resident of the community.
At an early age, he accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal savior. He served as an active member and trustee of Friendship Christian Methodist Episcopal Church, Tavares. He taught Sunday School, mentored, and participated in various ministries for several years, even as his health began to decline.
Joe was devoted to the Lord Jesus, his wife and family. He remained a warrior to the end and departed this life on June 10th.
Joe is survived by his loving wife, Dorothy Glover; daughter, Eleanor Glover; sister, Pauline Atkins; 20 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives, church family and many friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, June 19, 2026 from 4-6PM at the church. A service of celebration will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2026, 11:00 AM at Friendship Christian Methodist Episcopal Church, 29608 Camp Road, Tavares with Pastor Michael Watkins, officiating. Interment: Woodlawn Memorial Park, Orlando with full military honors.
