Obituary:
Delroy O’Brian Baker affectionately known as “Moses & “Baker” was born in Black River, St. Ellizabeth Jamaica on July 7, 1951. He was the son of Josephine Brown & Joseph Baker. Delroy departed this life on Friday May 15, 2026, at the age of 74.
As a young boy, his mother moved the family to the Parish of St. Catherine in search of a better life. Delroy attended Innswood Primary School and later continued his education at St. Andrew Technical High School in Kingston Jamaica.
After graduating, Delroy began his professional journey at the age of 19 with the Jamaica Telephone Company, where he worked until he was 28 years old. In 1983, he migrated to New York City where he built a successful career in telecommunications engineering. During his years in the industry, he worked for several telephone companies including MCI, Nortel Networks, and Verizon.
He moved to Florida in 2005 and continued his career with Ericsson until his retirement. Throughout his professional journey, Delroy had the opportunity to meet many wonderful people, several of whom became lifelong friends..
Delroy was a natural-born leader whose strength, vision, and dedication were evident from an early age. Growing up, he founded the Super Star Youth Club in his community and faithfully served as its president for many years. His passion for leadership and service continued throughout his life as he remained actively involved with organizations including XJTC, Sydenham, and STATHS Associations.
Delroy was a man of great wisdom and a devoted family man. He was an active member at Mission of Hope Worship Center. Delroy was known as a problem solver, peacemaker, and community builder. He inspired all whose lives he touched and was deeply loved by many.
Delroy leaves behind to cherish his memory his beloved wife of 46 years, Sharon Baker, and his four children: Kandice Baker, Kamelia Baker, Tamiko Baker, and Shannel Robinson; Grandchildren: Khiry, Shakya, Lyniah, Aiden, Victoria, Abigail, Maddison, Logan, Obrian, Zoey; Great-grandchild: Malechi; along with many other relatives, friends, and loved ones who will forever treasure his memory.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 6, 2026, from 10:00 AM until services begin at 11:00AM, Mission of Hope Worship Center, 5400 Hernandes Drive, Orlando with Bishop Arnold Fraser, officiating. Interment: Orlando Memorial Gardens, Apopka.
