Obituary:

Melinda Michelle “Baby Cake” Mitchell, 45, of Orlando, departed this life on Thursday, August 21, 2025. Melinda, a lifelong resident of Orlando, was born on September 14, 1979 to Linda and Leon Boykin.

Melinda was educated in Orange County Public Schools and graduated from Oak Ridge High School. She had a fun-spirited soul whose smile was stunning that it would light-up any room. She took on many passions which included singing and cooking. What gave her the most joy in life was raising her children, whom she loved with all her heart. Melinda was a beautiful, giving and kind individual that made a lasting impact on many lives, and she will forever be missed.

She is survived by her 4 children, Nevah Mitchell, Azariah M. Mitchell, Mekhi Bostic-Mitchell, Nia Burnett; loving parents, Leon and Linda Boykin; 4 siblings, James Mitchell, Elmer Mitchell, Leon Boykin Jr., Anthony Bostic; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held on Friday, September 5, 2025 from 4-6PM at the mortuary. A service of celebration will be held on Saturday, September 6, 2025, 11:00 AM at Postell’s Mortuary Chapel, Orlando with Rev. Dr. Earnestine Sweeting, l, officiating.
