Obituary:
Reverend Larnce Sylvester Williams, 77, of DeLand, transitioned from labor to reward on Sunday, April 20, 2025. Reverend Williams was born on December 3, 1947 in Webster, FL to the late Mamie Lou and Ernest C. Williams, Sr.
Reverend Williams was a dynamic leader and servant of the African Methodist Episcopal Church for over 30 years. His dedicated and faithful ministry allowed him to serve several churches in the Central Annual Conference including: Mt. Olive, Bushnell, Mt. Olive, Coleman, St. Paul, Winter Garden, Bethel, Umatilla, and St. Lawrence, Eatonville. The motto Reverend Larnce Williams carried with him, “if I can help somebody as I pass this way, then my living shall not be in vain” became a major tool he used to guide countless souls to the ever- open door of Christ. Gaining the love and respect from many, Reverend Williams’ light became a strong, gravitational pillar for every community he served.
In addition to his ministerial duties, Reverend Williams was a former Orange County Correctional officer and a Gospel DJ for 1600-WOKB radio. He enjoyed reading the bible and spending time with his beloved grandchildren. Reverend Williams was a devoted father, brother, grandfather, Servant leader and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Reverend Williams breathed his last breath and put on his new robe of glory on Easter Morning 2025. His ministry and legacy will live on in the hearts of his beloved children, Leslie S. Williams, Taneka Williams, Samuel Williams, Adam Williams; siblings, Connie Rivers, Katrina Williams Fisher, Loretta Williams, Peter Williams; 10 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives, colleagues, former congregations and numerous friends. Earth has no sorrow that heaven cannot heal.

I had the privilege of spending much of my teenage years and around Larnce, a remarkable cousin with whom I could leisurely play basketball with or daydream as young boys often do. He always there of in my time of need, offering, clarity, and words of wisdom. I already deeply miss him. A very special human being.
