Obituary:
Melgrove Alexander Sealey, age 74, passed away on Thursday, July 4th, 2024, in Health Central
in Orlando, Florida. Alex was the eldest of 7 siblings born to the late Dr. Lemuel R.V. Sealey Sr.
and the late Christophine St. Jean.
Melgrove, better known as Alex or Melly, was born in Bolands, Antigua, November 30, 1950.
Alex attended private school and St. Thomas Adventist school. Upon graduating, in the late
1960s, Alex joined the U.S. Job Corps, enrolling in the Print trade. After completing his first tour,
he opened Sealey’s Printery in New Jersey, U.S. and later relocated to New York, U.S.
In 1978, Alex moved to St. Thomas, Virgin Islands, opening Sealey Offset Printing, which he ran
independently, earning the title of Master Printer.
Alex was also a very talented musician, playing bass guitar and steel drums with fellow musician
Roland Price in the section of Manhattan, New York, known as “The Village”.
Alex is survived by his daughter Nicole Sealey; brothers, Keith Charles(Camilla), Austin Charles,
Leon Charles , Remy Campbell (Loretta), Peter Sealey and Lem Sealey Jr.; sisters, Erma
Charles and Sheila (estranged); nephews, Mark Charles, Aiden Campbell, and Ethan Campbell;
nieces, Erica Charles, Tia Campbell, Acacia Sealey- Magionas, Jaime Spinazola and Aria
Sealey; cousins, Eva Ngumi, Patricia Jacobs, Thomas Gabriel, Willis Jacobs, Morel Brown,
Sarah Mae Jackson, Roberta Henry and their families, along with Alex’s best friends, Orlando
Barr and John Harley.
In lieu of flowers, any donations can be made to the Estate of Melgrove Sealey.
A memorial service will be held Thursday August 1st, 2024 at 6pm in Postells Mortuary, 811
North Powers Drive, Pine Hills, Orlando, Florida 32818.
