Obituary:

Edward Mincey Jr., 64, of Orlando, departed this life on Sunday, February 11, 2024. Edward was born on September 24, 1959, in Soperton, Georgia, to Edward Mincey Sr., and Lela Pearl Chambers. He graduated from Lyman High School, Altamonte Springs, Florida in 1979 where he ran track and played football. Soon after high school joining, the US Army. While serving in the military in Germany, Ed, as he is known by family and close friends returned home to marry his high school sweetheart on July 2, 1980. He pursued his dream job as a front-end driver. Never giving up, Edward went on to pursue a career at Southern Technical College where he earned an Associate of Science in Electrical and an Associate of Science in Electronics Technology-HVAC. He was an Environmental Prevention Activist.

There is never a time we will say goodbye to the love of our lives. Just a simple: I’ll see you later and save a place for me behind God’s glorious gates. Known for being an amazing husband, provider, father, and grandfather – Ed was also known for his love of the rodeo and fishing. He found peace in sports such as basketball and football. Ed enjoyed traveling and the country life. His last wish was to retire to Stone Mountain, GA, with his wife.

Ed enjoyed his time with family. He leaves to cherish his memories: loving wife Henrietta Mincey; children, Katoria Mincey, Edward Mincey III, Gwendolyn (Donavon) Frater, Mary Holmes, and Jordyn Holmes; grandchildren, Xavius Anestal, Edward Mincey IV, Za’Niyah Anestal, Sera Mincey, Zacharus Anestal, Samone Mincey and Erielle Mincey; two sisters, Lisa Mincey and Angela (John) Watkins; brother, Freddie Mincey. Because of his love for children, he also had a special place in his heart for his; godchildren, Ramondo Williams, Latrece Turner, Michael Wilson, Herbert Cohen, Jamil James, Jamari Williams, and Jude Parks III; special nieces and nephews, Willie Holmes, Dontaye Early, Devin Frater Sr., Devin Frater Jr., Keria Longino, Avery Matthews and Kaliape Frater.

Visitation will be held on Friday, February 23, 2024 from 5-7PM at the church. A service of celebration will be held on Saturday, February 24, 2024, 2:00 PM at Ball’s Temple First Born Church of the Living God, 1977 Bruton Boulevard, Orlando with Bishop Gary Cohen, officiating. Interment: Cape Canaveral National Cemetery, Mims, FL with full military honors.

    Uncle Ed my heart was so broken when I heard that you had passed on to heaven , I had just been thinking of you wanting to be able to talk to you and also learn from you, when you talked to me it made my day uncle , you gave me words of wisdom and confidence, I loved all your stories about the military 🪖 and you always told that no matter what keep your head up and not to let anyone put me down and never say never,and I will live by that for the rest of my life unk .RIP.
