Obituary:
Reverend Susie Johnson Harris, 85, of Orlando, transitioned from labor to reward on Sunday, January 28, 2024. Reverend Harris was born in Shellman, Georgia on August 11, 1938 to Cornelia M. and Presiding Elder Leroy L. Johnson, Sr., who preceded her in death. Rev. Harris accepted The Lord as her Savior at an early age.
Professionally, Susie worked for many years as a Head Start Teacher, Orange County. Rev. Harris loved people. Her devotion to service and her call into ministry led her to becoming an Itinerate Elder in the African Methodist Episcopal Church.
Reverend Harris joined the ministerial staff of Mt. Olive AME Church, Orlando. Reverend Harris put God first in all that she did and she made sure her family knew who God was and how good God is. God knew she served her purpose and decided to call her home on January 28th. She was a loving mother, sister, grandmother, Servant and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Reverend Susie Harris is survived by her loving sons, Derrick (Justina) Harris, Sr., Dirk (Patricia) Harris, Darryl (Sharon) Harris, Sr., Levon (Rochelle) Harris, II, Carlos (Belinda) Harris; brother, Eugene Van Johnson; 17 grandchildren; a host of great grandchildren, other relatives, church family and many friends.

I’m sending the Harris Family my condolences but we know to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. Take comfort in these words and that Mama Susie has gained her crown.
To the Family of this Great Woman of God,
On behalf of The Welcome Table Ministries of Kissimmee Florida, I humbly extend our prayers and condolences during this season. May the Hope of the Resurrection give you comfort in the days ahead. Precious in the Sight of the Lord is the death of His Saints.
He is God on the mountain and God in the valley.

The love Rev. Harris and I shared was like no other. She called me her daughter and that was greater love for me knowing the boys. I’ll miss her, but I’m happy to know where she is.

I feel depressed because my great grandmother is the nicest person I ever knew but sometimes losing people is part of life.
