Obituary:
Berta M. Sledge, 97, of Orlando, departed this life on Thursday, January 4, 2024. Berta was born on March 28, 1926 in Green Cove Springs, Florida. She attended Dunbar High School in Green Cove Springs, FL and graduated with honors.
She moved to Orlando, Florida and became a member of Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church. There she met her future husband, Josh Sledge Jr. She was the mother of seven children. She later joined Tangelo Baptist Church and remained an active member for over 20 years.
She was a woman of great wisdom. She dedicated her life to service, to her family and community. She served faithfully in the “Golden Stars” Ministry of the church. She instilled love, wisdom, and Christian values for all of her children and grandchildren to follow. Her memories will live on in our hearts. She loved her family and showed love to everyone. Berta was and will continue to be an inspiration to us all for living life in an exemplary way. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Annie leaves to cherish her love and memories to: sons, Clifford J. Miller, Charles E. Sledge, Josh Sledge III, Calvin M. (Donna) Sledge; daughter, Peggy E. Ross; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
A service of celebration will be held on Saturday, January 20, 2024, 11:00 AM at Pine Hills Community Church, 1305 N. Pine Hills Road, Orlando with Pastor Andrew Pollard, officiating. Interment: Woodlawn Memorial Park, Orlando.
