Obituary:

Lakesha “Kesha” Jenkins, 43, of Orlando, departed this life on Friday, July 21, 2023. On August 22, 1979 in Orlando, Florida, Lakesha Shervon Jenkins was born to the late Charles Arnold and Georgia Lee Mattox.

Kesha was one of many grandchildren. She loved her family dearly. Kesha was a very sweet spirited, kind-hearted, loving person. She was a mother figure to many, always had a listening ear and/or shoulder to lean and cry on. Kesha loved to travel, spending time with family and friends and loved her one on one dates with her “lil broke best friend” Brooklyn.

Kesha attended Orange County Public Schools where she graduated from Wymore Secondary School in Eatonville, FL. Kesha later went to Valencia Community College to receive her AA Degree and further continued her education certificate in Child Development (CDA).

Kesha started working at an early age at St. Vincent’s Academy (SVA) and worked there for 23 years. During this time Kesha met so many families that she grew to love. Kesha loved her work family and all of her students (her babies).

Kesha was a faithful member of United Church of God by Faith, under the leadership of late Elder Herbert Green Jr. She served on the usher board and sang in the choir.

On May 24, 2003, Kesha married the love of her life Robert Jenkins. From this union they were blessed with three children and three step-children that Kesha accepted and loved as her own.

She leaves to cherish her memories: her husband, Robert Jenkins, daughter, Taniesha Jenkins; Two step daughters, Tianna Jenkins and Destiny Jenkins; Asja Starker that Kesha took in and loved as her own daughter; One step son, Barry McBride; A loving father and mother-in-law Robert and Barbara Jenkins; brothers, Maurice Bryson & Kenneth Mattox; Godmother Vanecia Green and the God-siblings The “D” Greens; one grand-daughter Brooklyn Jenkins; three god-children, Zerenity Clarke, Laniyah Jones and Amit Beavers; one sister-in-law Cindy Jenkins. A host of loving aunt, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, god-children, her SVA family and babies (as she called them) and many friends.

Visitation will be held on Friday, July 28, 2023 from 4-6 PM at the mortuary. A service of celebration will be held on Saturday, July 29, 2023, 2:00 PM at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, 412 E. Kennedy Boulevard, Eatonville with Elder Joe Hobbs, officiating. Interment: Eatonville Memorial Gardens.

Kesha leaves behind an incredible legacy filled with countless lives touched. She was an amazing mother, wife, and friend. Most importantly, she loved God with everything that she had. As sad as I am about her passing, I find comfort knowing that she was greeted by her heavenly father and departed family members! I love you Kesha, thank you for shining your light here on earth and being the hands and feet of christ in many lives, including mine.

Mrs. Kesha loved her family and school family fiercely and they returned that love so deeply. Her life and loss have impacted so many and the sea of red at her memorial is a true testament to how deep she loved. I’m forever grateful that Hannah, Hilary, and Matthew each had her as their teacher. Her memory will last a lifetime and she will be greatly missed.
