Obituary:
Freddie Lee Demings, 100, of Orlando, FL fell asleep and entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, January 31, 2023. Freddie Lee was born on September 12, 1922 in Luverne, Alabama to the late Levy Demings and Fred Green. He was one of 10 siblings.
He met the love of his life, the late Josephine Williams, and they were united in marriage on August 19, 1944. The Demings were blessed with five beautiful children, Dorothy, Joseph, Sandra, Terry, and Jerry. After relocating to central Florida, Freddie labored in various jobs including picking oranges, working at a tuberculosis sanitarium as a lineman for Southern Bell, as a truck driver and as a fish market owner. At the age of 80, he retired from Mears Transportation where he worked as a taxi driver.
In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, playing solitaire, and checkers, and was also known as a “man for all times” for his laughter, smile, and wit. Freddie turned 100 in September, and got mayoral proclamations, a birthday statement from President Joe Biden, and got a Smuckers birthday wish from Al Roker on NBC’s “Today.”
Freddie Lee dedicated his life to providing for his family. He instilled love, wisdom, and Christian values for all his children and family to follow. He was a devoted father, brother, grandfather, community servant and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He was deeply devoted to his family and is survived by his children, The Honorable Mayor Jerry (Hon. Valdez) Demings, Terry (Renee) Demings, Dorothy Rutherford; brother, John (Pearl) Peterson; 17 seventeen grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren other relatives and many friends.

So sorry to hear the passing of Mr Demings. I often talked to him at the nursing home when I visited a friend of mine. I would tease him, because he was the only man sitting in the Front room with all the women., and I would say , “ look, you still go it, all the ladies around you “ and then he would smile.
He looked so good for his age, it was amazing. My deepest condolences to his family!
May GOD bless the Demings family with peace, love and comfort at this time of homecoming celebration.
