Obituary:

Karen “Kay” Herring, 74, of Clermont, departed this life on Saturday, April 9, 2022. Kay was born on March 22, 1948 in Detroit, MI to the late Thelma and James Goodwin. Professionally, Karen was employed as a human resources consultant with Maritz Corporation for several years.

Karen dedicated her life to service, her family and community. She was a member of St. Mark AME Church, and served in various capacities of the church. She instilled love, wisdom, and Christian values for all her children and grandchildren to follow. Karen was a devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Johnny Lee Herring; sons, Toussaint (Audrey) Herring, Kimani (Marissa) Herring; sisters, Janet (Meredith) Jackson, Theresa (Paul) Edwards, Alicia (Ronald) Leverett; brothers, Donald (Patricia) Goodwin; Reginald (Joyce) Goodwin; Darrin Goodwin; 5 grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and many friends.

Visitation will be held on Monday, April 18, 2022 from 4PM – 7PM at the church. A service of celebration will be held on Tuesday, April 19, 2022, 11:00 AM at St. Mark African Methodist Episcopal Church, 1968 Bruton Boulevard, Orlando with Pastor Terence R. Gray, I, officiating. Interment: Orlando Memorial Gardens, Apopka.

    Karen was an amazing woman, and I feel privileged to have known her. She will be missed deeply. I pray that those precious memories of her will bring comfort to the family.

    My heart filled and sincere condolences to my friends Johnny Herring, Donald Goodwin and Pat Goodwin for the loss of your wife ,and sister respectively. My love for Kay over the years cannot be measured…… she is a true friend and an excellent counselor. I will miss her friendship, her sense of humor, and her demonstration for the love of her family. May God continue to be with you durning your bereavement.
