Obituary:

Harvey T. Hudson, Jr., 74, of Orlando, departed this life on Wednesday, February 2, 2022. Harvey, affectionately known as Pop, was born on September 11, 1947 in Orlando, Florida. He is the fifth born and eldest son of the late Harvey Hudson, Sr. and Abither Walton-Hudson.

Harvey received his formal education in Orange County Public Schools where he graduated in the Jones High School Class of 1965. Upon graduation, he joined the United States Marine Corp and served until he was wounded during the Vietnam War. He later returned to his beloved City of Orlando. Harvey loved his family. He had a gift for making everyone laugh. There isn’t a time or memory where anyone he met could not recall laughing. He loved life and ensured that everyone around him enjoyed it as well. One of Harvey’s biggest accomplishments was being a proud father and grandfather.

Harvey leaves behind to cherish his memory: children- Michael (Erika) Hudson of Los Angeles, CA, Vicki (William) Barnes and Donald Peterson of Jacksonville, Florida. He has four beloved grandsons who he referred to as “his boys” and “1, 2, 3, and 4;” Jeremy (Makenzie) Barnes, Jonathan Barnes, Jaylen Barnes (his main man), and Sean Hudson; his long- time friend and companion Patricia Gail Slade; three sisters, Patricia (Robert) Clayton of Albany, GA, Gertrude Wade and Josephine Wright of Orlando, FL; one brother, Thomas (Carolyn) of Orlando Florida, brother-in-law, Dr. Shaylor James of Tallahassee, FL; Nephews, Anthony (Shirley) Cox, and Kevin (Jerri) Cox of East Orange, NJ, Rodney (Carmen) Clayton, and Reginald Clayton of Atlanta, GA, Clifford Wade Jr. of Orlando, FL; Nieces: Dr. Sherri James of Cary, NC, Yolanda Wade, Andrea Wade , and Jasmine Hudson of Orlando FL; and a host of great nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Friday, February 18, 2022 from 4-6PM at the mortuary. A service of celebration will be held on Saturday, February 19, 2022, 1:00PM at Postell’s Mortuary Chapel, Orlando with Elder Phillip Jones, officiating. Interment: Florida National VA Cemetery, Bushnell, FL with full military honors.
