Obituary:
Reverend Alfred V. “AV” Ward, Sr., 75, of Orlando, transitioned from labor to reward on Monday, January 17, 2022. Reverend Ward was born on July 6, 1946 in Cuthbert, GA to the late Thelma Ward and James Williams.
He later met and married Brenda A. Ward, and to this union three beautiful children where born, Alfred Jr., Cecil and Yulando. He was a devoted husband and father.
Reverend Ward was called to the ministry and quickly became a highly sought after evangelist in Florida. His invaluable lessons touched the lives of many members and visitors of New Jerusalem P.B. Church, Miami, FL; Zion Hill M.B. Church, Orlando; and St. John P.B. Church, Clearwater, FL.
The motto AV carried with him, “if I can help somebody as I pass this way, then my living shall not be in vain” became a major tool he used to guide countless souls to the ever- open door of Christ. Gaining the love and respect from many, AV’s light became a strong, gravitational pillar for every community he served.
AV breathed his last breath and put on his new robe of glory on January 17th. His ministry and legacy will live on in the hearts of his beloved children, Alfred Ward, Jr., Cecil B. (Shawnee) Ward and Yulando Renee Ward; sisters, Brenda (Alfred) Rush, Diane (Eshon) Moore; brothers, Terry (Cassandra) Young, Ronald (Tracy) Young, Sanders Young, Lorenzo Young; the entire Ward family, colleagues, past congregations he served, sons and daughters in the ministry, and numerous friends. Earth has no sorrow that heaven cannot heal.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 28, 2022 from 4-6PM at the mortuary. Visitation will also be held on Saturday, January 29, 2022 from 11AM until services begin at 1:00PM, Center for Manifestations Church, 3102 E. Lake Avenue, Tampa. Interment: Rest Haven Memorial Park, Tampa, FL.
