Shirley May Ffrench-Russell, 71, of Orlando, FL fell asleep and entered eternal rest on Wednesday, May 19, 2021. “Rusty”, as she was affectionately called, was born on June 6th, 1949 in Farm District St. Mary, Jamaica to parents Verona Sibley and Neville Ffrench. In her younger years she attended Carron Hall all-age school, Rose Bank all age school in St. Mary. She migrated to Kingston and attended Rosseau Primary and Tarrant all-age school. Her school days ended at the age of 15.

Shirley got married in 1986 to Owen Russell who passed away September 2020. They both later migrated to the USA. She and Owen had no children together but just like ‘The Brady Bunch’ they blend 9 children together.

Shirley was a hard-working woman who tried her hand at anything to care for her children. She worked as a household keeper both in Jamaica and in the United States. In Connecticut she worked as a hotel attendant. She later relocated to Florida in 2003 where she worked as a babysitter for a few months.

She was a generous woman whose home was open to any one that needed a place to live. Her house was a house of refuge in both Jamaica and the United States. Shirley gave her heart to the Lord and 1979 at Dean Pen Seventh-day Adventist Church in Jamaica. She has served in several churches as a Deaconess in both Jamaica and the United States. The last church she attended was Calvary Seventh-day Adventist Church. She was a loving and devoted mother, sister, grandmother and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Left to cherish her memories are her children: daughters, Ava (Bryan) Johnson, Stacy Gobern, Nordia, Taniesha; sons, Winston Shaw, Raymond Shaw, Christopher Shaw, Richard Shaw; father, Neville Ffrench; sister, Janet Ffrench; grandchildren, Kavonne, Devon, Perry, Sashae, Christopher, Jasmin, Selena and Ashley; great grandchildren, Roshawn and CJ; and a host of many other relatives and friends.
