Obituary:

Demetrius A. “Mete” Cox, Jr., 21, of Orlando, departed this life on Monday, March 8, 2021. Demetrius, a lifelong resident of Orlando, was born on March 7, 2000 to Jakia Burton and Demetrius Cox Sr. He was educated in Orange County Public Schools and was a college student at the time of his demise. He was a loving son, brother, grandson and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Demetrius leaves to cherish his memories: mother, Jakia T. Burton; father, Demetrius Cox Sr.; brothers, Lamareon Singletary; Ja’Darious Laster; sisters, Cataleya Laster, D’Myia Cox, D’Asia Cox; grandparents, Tonya and Darryl Christopher, Regina Cox, Ada Mae Shazier; and a host of other relatives and many friends.

Visitation will be held on Friday, March 19, 2021 from 4-6PM at the mortuary. A service of Celebration will be held on Saturday, March 20, 2021, 3:00PM at New Life COGIC, 3311 N. Powers Drive, Orlando with Pastor Stovelleo Stovall, officiating. Interment: Washington Park Cemetery, Orlando.

    To Ms. Jakia Burton, Demetrius Sr (Mete) Ciara & Regina Cox, what can we say except that we are so sorry to hear of the tragic demise of your beloved son, we are thinking of you during this time and send our deepest sympathy and heartfelt condolences and prayers of healing and peace to you and your family, may GOD strengthen you all as only HE can and will. Remember that It’s hard to forget someone who gave you so much to remember.
