Obituary:

The Reverend Lawrence Robert Campbell, Sr., 85, of Okahumpka, transitioned from labor to reward on Tuesday, June 23, 2020. Rev. L. R. Campbell, a lifelong resident of Lake County, was born on March 19, 1935 to Jourshia and James Campbell. He was a graduate of Bethune-Cookman College, Daytona Beach, FL and earned his B.S. degree in Education. He was a retired educator of Lake County Public schools.

Rev. Campbell devoted his life to spreading the word and love of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. His ministry of service allowed him to pastor several AME Congregations in the Central Conference to include Mt. Olive, Trilby; Mt. Pisgah, Summerfield; Bethel, Umatilla; Mt. Moriah, Wildwood; Grant Chapel, Oviedo and Greater St. Paul, Orlando. After retiring from active pastoring, he became a member of St. Stephen, Leesburg, serving faithfully on the ministerial staff. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Reverend Campbell is survived by his devoted wife and life partner, Aline Campbell; daughters, Maelene (James) Little, Jourshia Campbell; sons, Dennis Campbell, Lawrence R. Campbell, Jr., Andrew (Evelena) Campbell, Alonzo Campbell; 12 grandchildren; a host of great grandchildren, other relatives and many friends.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 2, 2020 from 4-6PM at the church. A service of celebration will be held on Friday, July 3, 2020, 11:00 AM, Antioch Full Gospel Baptist Church, 1020 E. Main Street, Leesburg with Pastor Woodrow Leeks, officiating. Interment: Oakridge Cemetery, Okahumpka.

    Im sorry for your lost we grow up next door or as kids we play with his kids . Many years im just thankful to have none him and his family members my condolences to his family .

    It is with much sadness that I express this sorrowful time in the passing of Rev. Campbell. All my life, I
    knew him as “Pop”. He always had a way of making you laugh and making you feel joyful. He also loved the Lord.
