Obituary:

Valory Scott, 67, of Orlando, departed this life on Tuesday, September 17, 2019. Val, as she was affectionately called by those who knew her, was a lifelong resident of Orlando, born to Julia M. Johnson and James Lee Scott, Jr. on September 15, 1952. Val retired from being an educator after over 30 years of dedicated service to Orange County Public Schools. She was a charter member of the Mu Iota Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., on the campus of the University of Central Florida. She later became an active member of the Orlando Alumnae Chapter, serving on various committees, and she she was particularly instrumental in the social action initiatives of the chapter. She was also a member of the NAACP, Orlando. She was a loving mother, sister and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Val is survived by her son, Marcus A. King; mother, Julia Scott; sisters, LaTricia Williams and Vanessa Scott; brother, Wayne (Phyllis) Scott; stepchildren, Marquis Wheeler, Chundra (Rodrick) Evens; 15 grandchildren she claimed as her own; and a host of other relatives, sorority sisters, and friends.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 25, 2019 from 4-6PM, with The Omega Omega service beginning at 6PM, both at the mortuary. A service of celebration will be held on Thursday, September 26, 2019, 1:00 PM, Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, 412 E. Kennedy Boulevard, Eatonville with Pastor Willie C. Barnes, officiating.

    Val, was wonderful classmate, but more than that she was beautiful person.. It’s always hard when we don’t get the opportunity to say goodbye. Family please know that she was loved by the members of Jones High Class of 1970…BLESS THE LORD O MY SOUL,AND FORGET NOT ALL HIS BENEFITS….

    Val, you will be greatly missed. You were always an inspiration to us with your positive attitude and uplifting spirit. We have shared so many beautiful memories over the years.     Val Scott lived her life in service to others. She always put others above self and exemplified daily the precious fruits of the spirit. She will be dearly missed but we are all better because she passed our way. We honor her for a life well lived.
