Obituary:

Reverend Mary Louise Williams Robinson, Retired Presiding Elder of the 11th Episcopal District of the AME Church, 89, of Orlando, transitioned from labor to reward on Friday, November 7, 2025. Presiding Elder Robinson was born on August 22, 1936 in Demopolis, AL to the late Gertrude and Mose Williams. After she completed her formal education, she humbly answered the call to ministry and earned her Master’s of Divinity Degree from Candler School of Theology at Emory University, Atlanta, GA.

Presiding Elder Robinson was a dynamic leader and servant of the African Methodist Episcopal Church for over 30 years. Her dedicated and faithful ministry allowed her to serve several churches in the 11th District including: Bethlehem, Milton, St. Joseph, Defuniak Springs, Allen Chapel, New Smyrna Beach, and Mt. Moriah, Cocoa before being appointed as a Presiding Elder by Bishop McKinley Young in 2008. The motto Presiding Elder Robinson carried with her, “if I can help somebody as I pass this way, then my living shall not be in vain” became a major tool she used to guide countless souls to the ever- open door of Christ. Gaining the love and respect from many, Elder Robinson’s light became a strong, gravitational pillar for every community she served. After retirement from active ministry, she joined St. Mark AMEC, Orlando. She chaired and served in various ministries even as her health began to decline. Elder Robinson enjoyed reading the bible and spending time with her beloved son and grandchildren. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, Servant leader and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Presiding Elder Robinson breathed her last breath and put on her new robe of glory on Friday Morning, November 7th. Her ministry and legacy will live on in the hearts of her beloved son, Hargis E. Robinson II; 3 grandchildren; and a host of other relatives, colleagues, former congregations and numerous friends. Earth has no sorrow that heaven cannot heal.

Visitation will be held on Monday, November 17, 2025 from 4-7PM at the church. A service of celebration will be held on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, 11:00 AM at St. Mark African Methodist Episcopal Church, 1968 Bruton Boulevard, Orlando with The Right Reverend Marvin C. Zanders II, Presiding Prelate of the 11th Episcopal District, eulogist.

Visitation will also be held on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, from 5-7PM at Bethel AME Church, 511 Woodland Drive, Pensacola, FL. Interment: Barrancas National VA Cemetery, Pensacola, FL.

Thank you Lord for allowing PE Mary Robinson to pass through my life. Her love, kindness and support will always remain as an example of what a true Sister in Christ is. Our time of service together on staff at Big Bethel Atlanta is one of my fondest memories. Rest well sister, till meet again.

We are saddened by the passing of Elder Robinson, a true servant of God. She shared many wonderful times with us in our home and at social outings in Orlando, Marianna and on the Quincy District.
HB – I met Elder when I was in high school. She and her husband were a loving couple who served in the West FL Conference with distinction. As a Presiding Elder and pastor, she was known and respected for her frank assessments and intellect. She literally towered above the others. Rest well, Elder Robinson. You deserve peace and a pain-free victory… God blessed you with a beautiful smile, a comforting spirit and Bible knowledge beyond most. Tuesday Bible Study will never be the same without you. Thank you for a life well-lived. Peace to Chuck and the family.

After Tuesday Noon Bible Study at Saint Mark, before Elder Mary’s health began to decline, I’m would sometimes chat with her as she rode around on the Walmart Neighborhood market cart while doing her grocery shopping! Elder Mary was so very interesting, kind and a great sense of humor always.. I will miss her.

Elder Robinson will be sorely missed. I was her Quincy beautician. She would often come to Quincy from Orlando to get her hair done. I will miss her phone calls and most of all, the prayers that she prayed for me and my family. Rest in peace Elder. Until we meet again in heaven.🪽🕊️

To the Robinson family, Rev. Mary was a very loving and kind soul. We all will miss her. I enjoy serving her when she was in my Sunday school class.

Thank you Presiding Elder Robinson for preaching Jesus with words, but most of all in the way you loved people. You will always be a pillar in my life. You gave me an opportunity to preach early in my ministry and was always an encourager as I grew up in Florida. To God be the Glory for a life well lived. Rest with the ancestors.
