Obituary:

Nilja Denise Hunter, 35, of Orlando, departed this life on Wednesday, December 3, 2025. Nilja, a lifelong resident of Orlando, was born on March 10, 1990 to Brenda Brown and Nils Sims. She was educated in Orange County Public Schools and graduated from Jones High School, class of 2008. She furthered her education on the campus of Bethune-Cookman University, earning her bachelor’s degree at this outstanding institution in 2012. During her senior year at B-CU, she became a proud member of the Delta Alpha Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.

“Mrs. Go Hard”, as she was affectionately known, had a passion for beauty and cosmetic services. As a result, she began her career as an esthetician and opened her own business ‘I Brow ‘n’ Beauty LLC in 2020. Nilja’s skill for all things beauty allowed her touch many lives throughout her community. Nilja had a fun-spirited soul, whose smile was so stunning that it would light-up any room. What gave her the most joy in life was spending time with her family, whom she loved with all her heart. Nilja was a beautiful, giving and kind individual and she will forever be missed.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Antonio Hunter; daughter, Addison Hunter; mother, Brenda Brown; father, Nils Sims; 4 siblings, Brandon Bennett, Ronnie Benton II, Ja’Lon Cole, Shikinah Glori Johnson; stepfather, Joshua B. Cole Jr; mother-in-law, Felicia H. (Ernest) Thomas; and a host of other relatives, co-workers, sorority sisters and numerous friends.

Visitation will be held on Friday, December 12, 2025 from 5-7PM at The Experience Christian Center, 3099 Orange Center Boulevard, Orlando, with the Omega Omega Ceremony of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. to begin at 7:30 PM. A service of celebration will be held on Saturday, December 13, 2025, 1:00 PM at St. Mark African Methodist Episcopal Church, 1968 Bruton Boulevard, Orlando with Bishop Derrick L. McRae, officiating. Interment: Woodlawn Memorial Park, Orlando.
