Obituary:

Joseph “JOE” Bradwell, 79, of Orlando, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, following a courageous battle with illness.
Joseph was born on February 26, 1946, in Midway, Florida. During his early years, he spent time in Winter Garden with a maternal aunt before returning to Midway as a pre-teen. He was educated in the Gadsden County Public School System and attended Northside High School. As a young man, Joe enjoyed boxing, basketball, and above all, fishing with friends. He began his spiritual journey at Galilee Missionary Baptist Church in Midway.

In his early adulthood, Joseph moved to Orlando to begin a new chapter of his life. It was there he discovered his passion for cooking, which would go on to define his career. He also met and married his first wife, with whom he had two beautiful daughters.

Joseph honed his culinary skills over a 35-year career as a chef, serving at establishments such as the Executive Airport, Colonial Lanes, Lee’s Lakeside, and the Mystery Sleuth Dinner Theater. He was best known for his unforgettable homemade soups and the beloved “Bradwell Burger.”

Family was always at the center of Joe’s life. He is survived by his two daughters, Veronica (Marlo) Dickens, Sheila Bradwell; six grandchildren; and one spirited bonus great-grandchild. He leaves behind one cherished sister, Patsy Dawkins; and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family who adored him.

Joe never met a stranger. He had a gift for conversation, often sharing stories about life in Midway, his fishing adventures, culinary tips, or his passion for football. If you had the pleasure of tasting his cooking, you likely received a story to go with it. As he often said, “If I don’t eat, something is wrong with me.”

Joseph Bradwell was a loving, spirited, and engaging man. To know him was to love him—and to listen. His presence will be missed immensely, and his legacy of love, laughter, and flavorful meals will live on in all who knew him.

Visitation will be held on Friday, July 25, 2025, from 5-7 PM at New Church of Faith. A service of celebration will be held on Saturday, July 26, 2025, 11:00 AM at New Church of Faith, 5000 Silver Star Road, Orlando with Elder Lee Fayson, officiating.
