Obituary:

Betty Jo “RED” Brookshire, 70, of Kissimmee, FL departed this life on Wednesday, November 12, 2025. Betty was born in Quincy, FL on April 2, 1955 to the late Margaret and Howard Charles Austin. Professionally, she worked in retail for several years.

She was a woman of great wisdom. She enjoyed listening to music, dancing, playing cards with friends, but her true passion was interior decorating. She instilled love, wisdom, and Christian values for all of her children and grandchildren to follow. She loved her family and showed love to everyone. Betty was and will continue to be an inspiration to us all for living life in an exemplary way. She was a devoted mother, sister, grandmother, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

She leaves to cherish her love and memories to her children: Occress Larry, Chauncey Austin; brothers, James Austin, Larry Austin, Alphonzo Austin Sr, Alonzo Austin; sisters, Helen Rawls, Connie Williams, Mary Moore, Gussie (Willie) Denmark, Joann Austin; 6 grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and many friends.

Visitation will be held on Friday, November 21, 2025 from 4-6 PM at the mortuary. A service of celebration will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2025, 2:00 PM at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, 412 E. Kennedy Boulevard, Eatonville, with Apostle Alphonso Austin Jr., officiating.
