Obituary:

William Stephen, 80, of Orlando, departed this life on Wednesday, May 1, 2024. On the 5th of March,1944 in the town of Castries, St. Lucia, a bouncing baby boy was born to the late Agnita Hippolyte. His early years were spent with his maternal grandmother and mother and he was affectionately nicknamed “Outo Boy”.
His life changed when his mother got married and he became an older brother to a brother and three sisters. He completed his education and at the age of 16, his mother sent him to live with his aunt in Barbados. He adjusted quite well to the move, found work and attended weekend activities. It was at one such function that he met the love of his life and life partner, Sherrold. For them it was love at first sight when he spotted Sherrold on a Carousel and she allowed him to join her on the ride. They became inseparable from then and started a friendship which lasted a lifetime.

During the union their one and only love child, Anderson (Andy) was born. William’s aunt decided to migrate to the United States and he later joined her in search of a better opportunity for his new family. Once settled, Sherrold joined him and they were married. Their son later joined them and they made Brooklyn, their home for many years.

William was a hard worker and had complete trust in his wife. Together they lived comfortably, with him cooking, listening to music and sipping cocktails. In the late 80’s they moved to Orlando. There he suffered from knee pain and underwent knee replacement surgery. Shortly after he retired and spent time at home with his dog, Sandy. He was suddenly hit with the need to return home and so acquired land in St. Lucia and built his dream home. He relocated in 2016 and was happy to be surrounded by family and friends. It was surprising when he suddenly put his house up for sale to return to Orlando. That move was made in 2022 with his wife at his side.

Left to mourn his passing are his beloved wife, Sherrold, two sisters, Anita John and Claudia Bain, 4 nephews, Marius and Darius Nicholas, Charlo and Claude Bain, one niece, Claire Fontinelle. Three brothers in law, Irving John, Victor Grant and Charles Bain. Sisters in law, Corah and Shirley Grant. Many relatives and friends, too numerous to mention.

Visitation will be held on Friday, May 17, 2024 from 4-6PM at the mortuary. A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, May 18, 2024, 11:00 AM at Postell’s Mortuary Chapel, Orlando, with Deacon Tommy Tate, officiating. Interment: Orlando Memorial Gardens, Apopka.
