Obituary:

Viola Summers, 72, of Winter Garden, departed this life on Friday, February 14, 2025. She was born on July 27, 1952 in Hendersonville, NC to the late Ora and Shelly Summers. Professionally, she was employed in housekeeping with Hyatt Regency Hotels for many years.

Viola was a beautiful person that had a smile that would light up a room. She enjoyed shopping, meeting people and making new friends wherever she went, and just being around her family. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

She leaves behind four children, whom she loved dearly: Greg (Camille) Carter, Derrick Carter, Iyona (James) Summers, Jermaine Summers; 2 sisters, Barbara (JT) Thomas, Mary Lee (Harry) Harris; 18 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; along with a host of cousins, nieces and nephews. To know Viola was to love Viola and she will forever be in our hearts.

Visitation will be held on Friday, February 21, 2025 from 4-6PM at the chapel. A service of celebration will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2025, 12:00 Noon at Mt. Zion AME Church, 420 W. Hull Avenue, Oakland with Pastor Rhonda Connelly-McIntyre, officiating. Interment: Oakland Community Cemetery, Oakland.
