Obituary:

Valerie Eldora Martin, 51, of Orlando, departed this life on Monday, February 3, 2025. Valerie was born on April 10, 1973 in Miami, Florida to Sylvia Mary Oak and Odell Wallace, Jr. Growing up, Valerie traveled extensively as her father retired from the US Air Force. Valerie was attended elementary school on Rickenbacker Air Force Base, Columbus, Ohio; Middle School at Upper Heyford AFB, near Oxford England; and graduated from high school at Sheppard AFB, Wichita Falls, Texas. She furthered her education, and earned an associate degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Phoenix.

Valerie was a happy go-lucky person who was always willing to help anyone, she had many friends, but her children and grandchildren were her life. She was the glue that held her family together.

Valerie primarily worked as a nurses aide and a home health aide. She later worked in the security field for many years to support her family. She loved the home life, especially cooking food for family and friends. She enjoyed watching movies and hanging out with her grandchildren. Valerie was a devoted mother, daughter, grandmother, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

She leaves to cherish precious memories: 3 children, Wendell (Samantha) Martin Jr., Jade Gordon, Cameron Gladney; father, Odell (Vickie) Wallace Jr.; companion, KJ; grandmother, Rosemarie Jemison; grandchildren, aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and many friends.

A service of memory will be held on Saturday, February 8, 2025, 3:00 PM at Postell’s Mortuary Chapel, Orlando with Pastor Arnold A. Porter, officiating.

Valerie was my niece. I had just gotten to know her much better in the last 4 years after the loss of my father Odell Wallace senior. Her father Odell Wallace Jr and I remain extremely close. I just wish that I could have gotten to know her better. But I am confident knowing that she is in a better place and no longer suffering.
