Obituary:
Stevenson Yates, Sr., 68 of Eatonville, departed this life on Tuesday, April 9, 2024. Deacon Yates was born to Maggie Lue Ball and Willie Louis Yates on October 19, 1955 in Winter Park, Florida.
Stevenson attended Orange County Public Schools. After his formal education, he partnered with his brother Wallison building a reputable Stucco business named Yates Stucco. After years of running the business, he partnered with his son, Stevenson Yates Jr., building another reputable business “All Hands on Deck”. He remained active until his health began to decline.
Stevenson served as a Deacon at both Reddick Memorial First Born Church, Sanford and Freewill Holiness Church, Apopka. He raised all of his children with values and morals. He cared for and loved all of his family. Deacon Yates was a hard worker and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Deacon Yates is survived by his loving wife, Vera Yates; 7 children, Sophia Williams, Patrice Yates, Latonya Yates, Tami (Travis) Newman, Yolanda Williams, Stevenson Yates, Jr., Darryl McDonald; siblings, Wallison (Shirley), Tommy (Sandy), Norris (Barbara); Rosalind (Walter), Latisha, Lorraine, Cynthia, Gwendolyn, Antoinette; 14 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and a host other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, April 19, 2024 from 4-6PM at the chapel. A service of celebration will be held on Saturday, April 20, 2024, 11:00AM at Beth Tehillah Ministries, 3450 S. US Highway 17 92, Casselberry with Pastor Ronald Critton, officiating. Interment: Woodbridge Cemetery, Fern Park.
