Obituary:
Stephen D. “Stovepipe” Carter, Sr., 70, of Orlando, departed this life on Thursday, February 6, 2025. Stephen, a lifelong resident of Orlando, was born on February 6, 1955 to Clara J. Crumpton and Harold Carter.
Stephen was educated in Orange County Public Schools and graduated from Jones High School, class of 1972. After graduation, he entered the workforce at a warehouse distribution center. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, brother, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Stephen is survived by his beloved wife, Diann Carter; 4 children, Jamika (Alfred) Nelson, Deondra (Avery) Milton, Stephanie Nelson, Stephen D. Carter Jr.; mother, Clara Crumpton; 4 siblings, Linda (Clarence) Carter-Anderson, Brian D. Crumpton, Paul A. Crumpton, Keith E. Crumpton; 6 grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 14, 2025 from 5-7PM at the church. A service of celebration will be held on Saturday, February 15, 2025, 11:00 AM at St. Mark AME Church, 1968 Bruton Boulevard, Orlando with Pastor Terence R. Gray, officiating. Interment: Washington Park Cemetery, Orlando.
