Obituary:

Sophia Helen Taylor, 83, of Orlando, entered her eternal rest on Thursday, October 24, 2024. Sophia was born on September 15, 1941 in Hawthorne, Florida to the late Altoria B. and James Berring. After graduating high school, Sophia entered the workforce at Walt Disney, working in the wardrobe department.

She loved the Lord and was an active member of New Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church, Orlando. She loved music and sang in the choir for many years. Aside from music, she enjoyed spending time with her beloved grandchildren. Sophia was a loving and devoted mother, sister, grandmother and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Sister Sophia Taylor leaves no mourners for she lived a rich Christian life among loving and devoted family and friends. She is survived by her daughters, Altoria (Billy) Gordon, Sonder Hawkins; sons, Robert Scott, James (Katrina) Hawkins Jr., Jerome Hawkins, Joseph (Lorene) Hawkins, John (Alexandra) Hawkins; 2 sisters, Lader McFadden, Betty Griffin; 30 grandchildren. She will live on in the hearts and minds of her family other relatives, former colleagues and friends.

A service of memory will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2024, 10:00 AM at New Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church, 4201 W. Columbia Street, Orlando with Pastor Wendell C. Webster, officiating.
