Obituary:

Shavanda L. “Pokie” Wright, 50, of Orlando, FL, departed this life on Sunday, October 3, 2021. Life’s journey for Shavanda began on February 6, 1971 in Orlando, Florida. She was an active member of First Baptist Church of Pine Castle, where she served faithfully with the Children’s Ministry. She was a woman of great faith and devotion to serving God and people. She was a very loving wife, sister and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her husband, Jimmie Wright, Jr.; sisters, Ethaleen (Aaron) Chance, Joe Ann Boatright; brother, Oliver (Elizabeth) Sallett; and a host of other relatives and many friends.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 13, 2021 from 4-6PM at the mortuary. A service of celebration will be held on Sunday, November 14, 2021, 2:00 PM at First Baptist Church of Pine Castle, 1001 Hoffner Avenue, Orlando with Pastor John Sanders, officiating. Interment: Edgewood/Greenwood Cemetery, Apopka.

    My heart is sad, my speech is broken. My childhood and adult friend is no longer here on earth, even though time has past and I had not spoken with you in quite some time. You will be surely missed and not forgotten. (Just found out about your transition; late but still my heart is sad) Blessings to your husband and family.
