Obituary:

Shamika Nicole “Meka” Wright, 40, of Oviedo, departed this life on Wednesday, December 25, 2024. Shamika was born on November 21, 1984 in Orlando, Florida to Debbie Wright and Jerome Glover. She was one of her grandfathers, L.C. Wright, favorites. She was the favorite among all of cousins. She was the oldest of her mothers 6 children. Shamika was a loving and caring person. She was the life of the party. There was never dull moment where you were around Meka. She was the proud mother of 4 children, one boy and thee girls. Meka was a devoted mother, daughter, sister, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her loving 4 children: Brian Lawson Jr., Ky’asia Lawson, Janyila Biggers, Danasia Ward; mother, Debbie Wright (Gerard Maxwell); father, Jerome Glover; brothers, Daryl Ely Jr., Dewayne Ely Sr. (Jazmine), Darius Wright, Tyrone Davis Sr., Jecari Matthews; sisters, Felicia Ely, Keyana Ely, Latoya Avery, Latoya Beauford Lamb, Alyssa Hammond, Shirley (Star) Favors; nephews, Keyunte’ Jeffries, Kayeon Jeffries, Dewayne (EJ) Ely Jr, nieces, Rodnicia Ely, Kaylanii White; favorite cousins, Nikita Barnes, Jermaine C. Wright; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousin, other relatives and many friends.

Visitation will be held on Friday, January 17, 2025 from 4-6PM at the chapel. A service of celebration will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2025, 2:00 PM at New Hope Baptist Church, 274 N. Capen Avenue, Winter Park, with Pastor Leonard Jackson, officiating.
