Obituary:
Reverend John D. Wright, 70, of Orlando, transitioned from labor to reward on Thursday, April 4, 2024. Rev. Wright was born on September 26, 1953 in Charleston, SC to the late Rachel and George Wright. He later met and married is devoted wife Virginia P. Wright, who served along side him throughout their ministry.
Reverend Wright was called to the ministry and ordained as an Itinerate Elder of the African Methodist Episcopal Church, where he served for over 20 years. His invaluable lessons touched the lives of many members and visitors of Calvary Church, Kissimmee. In 2004, he and his wife became co-pastors of Way, Truth and Life Ministries of Orlando. The motto Rev. Wright carried with him, “if I can help somebody as I pass this way, then my living shall not be in vain” became a major tool he used to guide countless souls to the ever- open door of Christ. Gaining the love and respect from many, Rev. Wright’s light became a strong, gravitational pillar for every community he served. No matter where life took him, he continued to serve God and people in what ever capacity was needed.
Rev. Wright breathed his last breath and put on his new robe of glory on April 4th. His ministry and legacy will live on in the hearts of his beloved wife, Virginia Wright; children, Erica Wright and Brian Lewis; siblings, Mary (Isaac) Dickson, Earl Wright, Charles (Carol) Wright, Winston (Kelley) Baker; the entire Wright family, colleagues, past congregations he served and numerous friends. Earth has no sorrow that heaven cannot heal.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 18, 2024 from 4-6PM at the mortuary. Visitation will also be held on Friday, April 19, 2024, 11:00AM at St. Mark African Methodist Episcopal Church, 1968 Bruton Boulevard, Orlando with Rev. Dr. Marcus Green, eulogist. Interment: Rose Hill Cemetery, Kissimmee.

Ton behalf of the Butler families the brothers and sisters of Mary and Carl Butler extends their love to the family in the lost of their father, husband and wonderful brother! Your heart was always to do good for the Lord and your family Rev. John Wright! You are now in the arms of your Lord and Savior.
We have very fond memories of John as our childhood friend. That friendship continued as John was a groomsmen in our wedding in 1980. We believe as 2 Corinthians 5:8 states, “To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.” We extend our love and prayers to the family of our beloved friend, Reverend John Wright!
Offering my sincere and heartfelt Condolences to the family of a lifelong friend. John’s family has been a part of our family our entire lives. John will certainly be missed. May God provide strength and comfort to you during the hours, days, weeks, and months to come.
Offering heartfelt condolences. You all are in our prayers. We love you

I worked with Rev. Wright for over a decade, and loved him dearly. He always had a kind word, well-mixed with wisdom. He was always glad to receive a hug, and his workspace was so filled with prayer that you could feel the protection and blessings when visiting him there. I deeply regret not visiting him more after he retired from work, and I will miss him dearly until we meet again in Heaven. Until then, my friend, enjoy the Presence of the Lord. Amen.
