Obituary:

Reverend Hubert Harris, of Clermont, transitioned from labor to reward on Thursday, June 22, 2023. Rev. Harris was born on October 22, 1937 in Ocilla, GA to the late Doreatha and John Harris, Sr. He later met and married Rosa Bell Harris, and to this union six beautiful children where born. He was a devoted husband and father.

Reverend Harris was called to the ministry and ordained as an Itinerate Elder of the African Methodist Epsicopal Church, where he served for over 40 years. His invaluable lessons touched the lives of many members and visitors of St. Paul, Stuckey and St. Joseph, Sparr, FL. The motto Rev. Harris carried with him, “if I can help somebody as I pass this way, then my living shall not be in vain” became a major tool he used to guide countless souls to the ever- open door of Christ. Gaining the love and respect from many, Rev. Harris’ light became a strong, gravitational pillar for every community he served. After retirement from active pastoring, he became a member of St. Mark AMEC, Clermont where he continued to serve God and people in what ever capacity was needed.

Rev. Harris breathed his last breath and put on his new robe of glory on June 22nd. His ministry and legacy will live on in the hearts of his beloved children, Antonio Harris, Theresa (Grady) Jeffereson, Alice (Bruce) Jones, Robert (Rev. Dawn) Harris, Kalan L. Parramore, Catina Harris; 19 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; special friend, Constance Tracey; the entire Harris family, colleagues, past congregations he served, sons and daughters in the ministry, and numerous friends. Earth has no sorrow that heaven cannot heal.

Visitation will be held on Friday, June 30, 2023 from 5-7PM at the church. Visitation will also be held on Saturday, July 1, 2023 from 12:00 Noon at St. Mark African Methodist Episcopal Church, 810 Disston Avenue, Clermont with Pastor Denzil Brumfield, officiating.

My sympathies to Antonio and Theresa as well as the rest of the Harris Family and friends. Mr. and Mrs. Harris were such wonderful people and they passed that down to their children. Many times, we joked that we were no relation to each other. Rest in Peace Mr. Harris.
