Obituary:
Reverend Harry Heyward, Sr., 98, of Orlando departed this life on Friday, April 25, 2025. Rev. Heyward was born in Beaufort, South Carolina on December 30, 1926 to Florrie and Henry Heyward who preceded him in death. Professionally, he was employed in the citrus industry for many years until retirement.
God lead him to dedicate his time and service to Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church of Orlando. He served faithfully and offered his talents willingly even as his health began to decline. Reverend Heyward put God first in all that he did and he made sure his family knew who God was and how good God is. God knew he served his purpose and decided to call him home April 25th. He was a loving father, brother, grandfather, servant leader and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Rev. Heyward leaves to cherish his memories: son, Dennis (Veronique) J. Heyward; sister, Bernice Patterson; 3 loving grandchildren, Monique Heyward, Harry Heyward III, James B. Heyward; and a host of other family, church family and friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 16, 2025 from 5-7 PM at the church. A service of celebration will be held on Saturday, May 17, 2025, 11:00 AM at Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church, 5200 W. South Street, Orlando with Rev. Dr. Larry G. Mills, eulogist. Interment: Washington Park Cemetery, Orlando.
