Obituary:
Reverend Benjamin F. Murray, 88, of Orlando, transitioned from labor to reward on Sunday, June 26, 2022. Reverend Murray was born on January 3, 1934 in Quincy, FL to the late Leatha and Robert Murray.
Reverend Murray served his country proudly in the US Army and was honorably discharged in 1958. He was later called to the ministry and led to touch the lives of many members and visitors of AME Churches in Crystal River/Hernando and Okahumpka, FL. The motto Rev. Murray carried with him, “if I can help somebody as I pass this way, then my living shall not be in vain” became a major tool he used to guide countless souls to the ever- open door of Christ. Gaining the love and respect from many, Rev. Murray’s light became a strong, gravitational pillar for every community he served. After retirement, he joined St. Mark AMEC, Orlando, and remained a faithful member until his health began to decline.
In his spare time, Rev. Murray enjoyed grilling, doing yard work and spending time with his beloved grandchildren. He was a devoted father, brother, grandfather, Servant and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Rev. Murray breathed his last breath and put on his new robe of glory on June 26th. His ministry and legacy will live on in the hearts of his wife, Mary S. Murray; beloved daughters, Michelle (Aaron) F. Murray-Clark, Beverly A. Grant, Dorian E. Murray; stepdaughter, Jackie Dexter; sisters, Minnie Houston, Rutha Mae Cox; 5 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; the entire Murray family, colleagues, past congregations he served, and numerous friends. Earth has no sorrow that heaven cannot heal.
Visitation will be held on Friday, July 8, 2022 from 4-6PM at the church. A service of Celebration will be held on Saturday, July 9, 2022, 11:00AM at St. Mark African Methodist Episcopal Church, 1968 Bruton Boulevard, Orlando. Interment: Florida National VA Cemetery, Bushnell, FL.

To Beverly, Frankie and Family et al. My heartfelt condolences to you in the loss of your father. I remember Mr. Ben Murray as a gentle giant in our younger days at St. Mark — how he would pick us up for Sunday School. He was a kind servant of God who will be missed.
